The name "Secret Creatures" ponders the secrets that still hide within the world that have yet to be discovered and can only benefit us if we protect our natural resources. It also asks the question, "What is your Secret Creature?" aka spirit animal, or power animal. The idea is to bring people closer to nature, and to have fun doing it! Creatures comforted by Kelly’s art include but are not limited to; tea drinkers, cat moms, mystics, nomads, nature geeks, weirdo artists, kids at heart, and anyone who has benefited from alternative healing.
Kelly Patton is the creator of books that conjure childhood mischief and wonder to inspire our creativity, encourage self care and bring us closer to nature. From a young age she began to explore her interests in the supernatural by illustrating a Tarot deck and wrote and painted pictures for children's fantasy stories. She earned her fine arts degree, traveled throughout Europe and lived alone in the woods, all the while recording her stories and lessons learned through her paintings. Kelly holds tight to the magic that is easily found in childhood and helps us remember our love for wild places, fairytales and myth.
Kelly is the creator of the oracle deck Secret Woods published by Schiffer Red Feather in 2021. The deck includes 28 cards and a 72 page companion book that feature unique animals, nature spirits and unusual creatures who offer deeply heartfelt advise. In 2016 she self published the 32 page children's picture book Moon Bunny and in 2018 released the 32 page children's picture book Mushroom Guardians. She was published in multiple issues of Fiddler's Green Peculiar Parish magazine and appeared in the art and occult blog Phantasmaphile.
Kelly exhibits her original paintings in galleries, boutiques and curiosity shops and has created illustrations for wineries, environmentally sustainable businesses, and many other organizations. Her original art commissions are often requests to paint spirit animal portraits or colorful nature themed works. Kelly loves to write and perform her own music and features recordings of her songs in her time lapse videos. She works from her plant filled home studio under the name Secret Creatures and is the proud mother of 3 daughters and one black cat.
